Basic Theory of the Project
Generating drama scripts based on Srimad Bhagavatam in order to present Srimad Bhagavatam through staging dramatic performances to convey cultural, traditional, moral & philosophical lessons to devotees and general mass.
Need for the Project
A dramatic performance is one of the ways through which we can convey our Krishna Conscious philosophy in a very appealing manner to our audience. Also it helps create awareness about the favorable aspects for example, avoiding animal killing, which are conducive to nurture traditional, cultural, moral values.
Approach / Work
Considering the need of the drama scripts as well as the importance of staging dramatic performances by our own devotees we have tried to generate the drama script based on the teachings of ISKCON Founder Acharya HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada’s Srimad Bhagvatam. Along with drama scripts we have tried to provide the description of the drama script which will aid in staging dramatic performance.
“Dramatic performances were enacted during the presence of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, but the players who took part in such dramas were all pure devotees; no outsiders were allowed. The members of ISKCON should follow this example. Whenever they stage dramatic performances about the lives of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu or Lord Krishna, the players must be devotees to transform the heart of the audience.
Eg: pastime where Narada Muni preaches to King Pracinabarhi in Canto 4.
Conclusion / Results
Our primary focus remained to study this whole pastime with the help of Srila Prabhupada’s purports and extract various lessons appealing to the audience.
