SB 4.6.44 – My dear lord, Your Lordship has introduced the system of sacrifices through the agency of Daksa, and thus one may derive the benefits of religious activities and economic development. Under your regulative principles, the institution of the four varnas and asramas is respected. The brahmanas therefore vow to follow this system strictly.
There are many misinterpretations that can be withdrawn from any of these verses from Brahma’s prayers to Lord Shiva. Thus, it is important that one should hear such prayers from a bona fide person to get the proper context.
To reflect on misunderstandings from one verse we have to see the whole set of prayers in totality, yet there individual misinterpretations that can be withdrawn from each verse. From the above mentioned verse in the context of these prayers one can assume that,
…Lord Shiva is the supreme personality of Godhead as in BG Lord says,
catur-varnyam maya srstam guna-karma-vibhagasah
tasya kartaram api mam viddhy akartaram avyayam
According to the three modes of material nature and the work associated with them, the four divisions of human society are created by Me. And although I am the creator of this system, you should know that I am yet the non-doer, being unchangeable. …doing sacrifices is the ultimate way of pleasing Supreme Personality of Godhead and religiosity. …ultimate result of the religious practices dedicated to Supreme Personality of Godhead is economic development.
… Daksa is a worshipable demigod and people may start his worship, where as we respect demigods but our worship is for Guru and Krishna only.
… Brahmanas should worship only Lord Shiva and propagate worship of Lord Shiva.
As a result, people may minimize Lord Krishna w.r.t. Lord Shiva and misunderstand his position. The concept of being in love with God will be undermined vis-á-vis idea of economic development by pleasing lord. People practicing such highest level of devotion might be considered sentimentalists or sahajiyas. By wrong interpretation of these prayers and following those interpretations people will not experience a change of heart and deep spiritual emotions and they might become victim to different anarthas. As a consequence they might squeeze out different philosophies and prophesize deviated segments in society. They might start punishing or prosecute worshippers of Vishnu or force them to worship Lord Shiva. We have witnessed in history that such misled people can go on deviating and misled people. Ramakrishna mission has no connection with any parampara and they proclaim themselves to be connected with Shankara philosophy and school of thought.
